An extraordinary Mass in an extraordinary chapel
posted on September 14, 2009 06:40:32 pm
Wouldn’t you know… just as I was feeling that I had nothing to write about tonight, I find that a kind correspondent has given me something to share!¬† And it is something most wonderful! Many thanks to Mr. Richard Collins from the UK for giving me this story and photos from a very special Mass that [...]

14 September: Exaltation of the Holy Cross
posted on September 14, 2009 05:37:55 pm
This is one of my favorite feast days, dedicated to the Holy Cross that bore Christ in His last trial.  It is a powerful reminder to us that we too are to bear the cross given to us. At this time of year, we tend to have forgotten last Good Friday (probably the last time we [...]

Pro-life activist murdered

Don’t have time to comment much… obviously, it’s very sad and sickening.¬† As I always say, it doesn’t matter how much you dislike or disagree with somebody or their message.¬† It doesn’t mean they deserve to die or that you get to play executioner.¬† That’s what it means to live in a democratic society. May God [...]

Today we remember the tragic, sudden, and violent loss of 2,996 innocent Americans on 11 September 2001. This year, I have the special honor and privilege, thanks to Project 2,996, to pay tribute to Paul ‚ÄúPaulie‚ÄĚ Ortiz, Jr., aged 21, from Brooklyn, NY. Paul was preparing a conference at the Windows on the World restaurant atop the [...]

Did you remember your mama’s birthday?
posted on September 08, 2009 11:48:25 am
Today is the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.¬† Happy birthday, Mama Mary!¬† You’re one of the greatest gifts God has given to us! I finally got to Confession this morning–yay!¬† I’m back on track!¬† I can receive Communion! Now if I can just get back into the swing of things at my job… [...]

Once again, God transforms bad into good; or, How I came to my first EF High Mass
posted on September 06, 2009 06:30:43 pm
I attended my first High Mass in the Extraordinary Form (EF) this morning.¬† It was glorious!¬† I’ve been wanting to attend one for a while now, but there’s a story behind why I went today. Basically, I did something really stupid last night, such that I really, really needed to go to Confession before Mass!¬† The [...]

Apologies for the lack of posting. I have been running on fumes for the last month. Fortunately, I’m off to Sarasota, Florida tomorrow morning to vacation with my parents! I am sooooo ready for some rest and relaxation! I will be back next Saturday, 5 September. I do have some posts in mind that will hopefully [...]

Brokenness and renewal
posted on August 21, 2009 08:03:05 pm
Recently, my ring broke very unexpectedly.¬† It was the only ring I wore.¬† Silver with a mystic fire topaz.¬† This one. I’d bought it for myself shortly after my fianc√©, Patrick, died.¬† I’d wanted a wedding ring just like it.¬† At the time, I fancied it helped keep my bond with him alive and “real.”¬† But [...]

U.S. bishops launch site on new missal translation
posted on August 21, 2009 06:32:29 pm
Via Catholic World News, I found the USCCB’s newly-launched site that introduces the new English translation of the Roman Missal! Among other things, they provide a nice summary of changes in the text. “Consubstantial” here we come!¬† :D Well… eventually.¬† It’s still not clear when the new translation will actually be implemented.¬† You know it can’t happen quickly [...]
